New members to Farm Credit of Central Florida board

Reggie Holt, President and CEO of Lakeland-based agricultural lending cooperative Farm Credit of Central Florida announced Dale McClellan and Randall E. Strode, have been elected by the coop’s membership to serve on the board of directors. David A. Mereness was appointed to the board to serve as the association’s outside director.

“The ability of our customers to have a voice in our board of directors’ election is one of the many benefits of belonging to a cooperative,” Reggie Holt, Farm Credit of Central Florida President and CEO said. “The association’s board members are the driving force behind the association’s success.”

Randall “Randy” E. Strode is the President of AgriStarts, Inc. a cloning tissue culture operation in Apopka.  He serves on the board of First Green Bank.  Mr. Strode was elected to the Board in April 2016 and his current term expires in April 2017.

“I feel extremely fortunate to be chosen to serve as a Director of Farm Credit of Central Florida,” Strode said. “I understand very well how important it is for farmers to have access to capital and I hope that I am able to contribute to the board in a positive way.”

Dale McClellan is a native Floridian and has been a dairyman/manufacturer throughout his life.  His principal occupation and employment for the past five years was with M&B Products, Inc. and M&B of Tampa, Inc.

“I am humbled and honored to be elected to the board and will strive to live up to my responsibilities as a board member,” McClellan said.

As an outside director, Mereness is the only director on the association’s board who is not a member-borrower.

Mereness, of Tampa, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and on the board of the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives. Mereness’ current term of office expires April 2017.

Farm Credit of Central Florida is a member-owned cooperative serving 13 Central Florida counties, including, Polk, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, Sumter, Lake, Seminole, Orange, Osceola, Volusia and Brevard. Part of the nationwide Farm Credit System established in 1916, Farm Credit of Central Florida provides loans, leases and crop insurance to over 1,000 farmers, ranchers, growers and rural homeowners.
